Enrollment | The Seeds Academy

Learner Enrollment K-8:

The Seeds Academy opened its doors in September of 2023 featuring one Sparks Studio and one Discovery Studio. The Sparks Studio is blended for pre-elementary to grade 2 learners (roughly aged 5-8). The Discovery Studio is blended for elementary learners (roughly aged 8-11). The New Explorer's Studio is for middle school learners (roughly aged 11-13).

Aged 5-7

Inspired by Montessori principles, the Spark Studio emphasizes hands-on projects and outdoor adventures to ignite curiosity and foster independence. Our primary goal in this studio is to develop a love of learning. Using the Waseca reading and writing program, the Montessori math board, and other hands-on tools, we begin building the foundations of core skills in this studio. This studio also spends 2 hours a day in outdoor unstructured play, to help develop soft skills like emotional regulation, cooperation, and conflict resolution.

Discovery

Aged 8-11

In this studio, learners continue to foster a deep love of learning and begin to focus on working well with others through regular group work. Mornings are spent doing self-paced core skills like math and reading, while afternoons are reserved for exploratory quest projects, hands-on experiments and play. Learners set and track personal goals, engage in group projects, and participate in daily Socratic discussions, fostering critical thinking and collaboration.

Explorers

Aged 11-14

The Middle School Studio challenges learners to work hard, tackle complex problems, and develop real-world skills. Students embark on apprenticeships, engage in rigorous projects with real clients, and participate in mature discussions, preparing them for future endeavors. In addition to a love of learning and working well with others, a new goal of this studio is academic excellence and rigor.

Family Interview

The application process involves direct meetings with the administrators and Guides, as well as "shadowing days" for your child. When you are comfortable applying, please contact us, and we will provide the required materials.

Step 1: Parent Information Night

Join us for a Parent Information Night to meet the owners, tour the school, and learn about our learner-driven environment.

Step 2: Family Interview

Accept our invitation for a collaborative interview to ensure our educational approach aligns with your family's needs.

Step 3: Shadow Day

Your child will be invited in for a shadow day. They will have a chance to experience a day of learning in our unique studio environment.

Step 4: Invitation to Enroll

After completing the process, receive an invitation to enroll and become part of our community.

Shadow Day

All Acton Academies have a three-part interview process ("On-boarding") before a student is accepted into the programming. This involves interviewing the parent and the child separately, a shadow day where the student can observe the non-traditional day-to-day routine, and then a follow-up interview with the parents where staff shares observations of the shadow day and discusses placement for the child.

Entering the Acton studio is a learning curve for both the child and the parent. There can be an adjustment period which is to be expected, so the enrollment process needs to be a collaboration between the family and the school. If we are going to work together to build this educational environment, all parties need to be on the same page. It is crucial to the success of each hero, as well as The Seeds Academy itself.

Tuition

The goal of The Seeds Academy is to provide an affordable educational experience. Tuition for Spark and Elementary is $7210, while Middle School is $7410. The goal of Seeds is to supply learners with small class sizes and a variety of supplies geared towards an immersive and experiential learning experience.

Scholarships:

The goal of Seeds to is to make a unique educational experience available to the right families. We are currently exploring many avenues that will allow for scholarship opportunities for learners in our community.

We have partnered with Luke Curley, of Reality One Group, to provide a tuition assistance program when buying or selling a home in our area.
